Desserts and Drinks (6 spots!)

Updated: Mar 17, 2021

1. Montclair Bread Company - Montclair, NJ

~Restaurant does not serve zabihah halal meat~

Parking: Street parking and parking lot next door

Setting: Outdoor and indoor seating available. Takeout also available

Order: Boston creme, fruity pebble, just chocolate, tres leches (Total $13)

All the donuts tasted very fresh and you can truly taste the difference between these and the factory made Dunkin donuts. The boston creme was topped with dark chocolate and had the custard filling. The fruity pebble one was super sweet but still very tasty. Just chocolate was a donut topped with literally just chocolate lol so if you're craving chocolate you're going to want it! Tres leches was by far my favorite, especially the cream in the middle 😁

2. Tiki Bowls - Totowa, NJ

~Restaurant does not serve zabihah halal meat~

Parking: Limited street parking and parking lot behind

Setting: Outdoor and indoor seating available. Takeout also available

Order: Mama T Acai Bowl (Total $9)

The flavors mixed well together and it felt like a refreshing dessert. It's pretty much fruit salad with granola and drizzle. Presentation is definitely cute and it's nice to try for the experience, but not worth it for the price.

3. Absolute Zero - Montclair, NJ

~Restaurant does not serve zabihah halal meat~

Parking: Metered street parking (be careful with parking in residential permit parking only areas)

Setting: Sit in and takeout

Order: Don't Thai Me Down (Total $7)

Best rolled ice cream around! They have unique names for their flavor combinations (none of them disappoint) or you can make your own. It's $7 flat, tax and unlimited toppings included. They are a great dessert that are big enough to maybe considered as small meals for some. Oh, and their spoons change color based on temperature!

P.S. If you couldn't tell, I really like thai food/flavors

4. Grace Street Cafe - Koreatown, Manhattan, NY

~Restaurant does not serve zabihah halal meat~

Parking: Metered street parking, paid parking lots

Setting: Sit in and takeout

Order: Shaved Snow - Cookie Monster and Mango Madness (Total $20)

The cookie monster was a little too sweet for me, but mango madness was on point. The flavors mixed well and nothing was too overpowering. The cookie monster, on the other hand, just mixed a bunch of equally sweet things to make an uber sweet monster... of cookies? 😅 I'm not really a shaved snow/ice kind of guy but I'm always down to try new things. This was a unique experience that I probably wouldn't try again, except the mango madness maybe. Can't go wrong with mangoes.

5. Urban Leaf Café - Nutley, NJ

~Restaurant does not serve zabihah halal meat~

Parking: Restaurant is located in a parking lot

Setting: Sit in and takeout

Order: Thai Bubble Tea, Iced Coffee, Original Vanilla Ice-cream Bubble Waffle with Walnuts, Whipped Cream, and Chocolate Drizzle ($15)

The waffles are amazing! Definitely worth a try. They have a unique texture that I personally feel like adds to the taste. The Thai bubble tea was okay. It tasted like a slightly watered down Thai Iced Tea with tapioca. The iced coffee was just plain terrible. It tasted like the bitterness of coffee mixed with water. No wonder it's not on the menu.

6. The Fine Grind - Little Falls, NJ

~Restaurant does not serve zabihah halal meat~

Parking: Restaurant is located in a parking lot

Setting: Sit in and takeout

Order: Fudge Brownie with Icecream and Whipped Cream, Italian Grilled Cheese with Tortilla

Chips and Hummus, and Katie Oreo Blast (Total $20)

Chai Latte with cinnamon (Total $5)

Brown-eyed girl (Hot Chocolate), Mocha espresso latte, Chai spice tea, Salted caramel

cake, Bagel sticks with cream cheese (Total $20)

The coffee shop has a great Friends vibe to it. It's a good place to study or catch up with a friend. The fudge brownie normally doesn't come with ice-cream but you can ask for it (it makes it sooo delicious). They have nearly 100 different kinds of drink and are very open to customizing. Definitely worth a try!

Not gonna lie, it pretty much tastes like desi chai (not exactly but close) but that's pretty much what I wanted sooo no complaints lol I should've taken the pic before I put the spoon in but I couldn't help but take a sip first cause it looked so good! 😍 Download their app and join the rewards program to get neat discounts/coupons

I really gotta stop coming here, but I can't resist! It's such a great study spot and a great place to catch up with friends. The hot chocolate was great but I kinda wish the hazelnut flavor was more prominent. Tea tastes like how my mom would make it for me when she knows I'm sick. The salted caramel cake came off too strong with the salted caramel flavor but overall it was still pretty good. And the bagel sticks were good. Not overly toasted that it turns into a rock like Dunkin. Even when it got cold, it was still soft.
